Guidelines for Blanket Construction

Use 100% Cotton fabric in age appropriate prints.

preemie closeupPreemie Blankets should be approximately 18" square. They must have cotton flannel backing and no batting. Do not tie Preemie quilts. Use minimal quilting on preemie blankets, stitching from ¼” to ½” around all four sides. We cannot accept knitted or crocheted blankets for Preemies.

Preemie Blanket Instructions and Guidelines

Preemie Patterns:

Preemie, 9-Patch Quilt, 18” * (A Favorite of Nurses)

Preemie, Double 4-Patch Quilt, 18” *

Preemie, One Patch Quilt *

Preemie Quilt, 1 Patch, 2 Borders *

Preemie Quilt, Whole Cloth *

 

Approximate blanket sizes:

Infant - 38" to 40" square

Toddler - 38" x 44" to 40" x 46"

Child - 40" x 48"

Teen - 40" x 56" to 42" x 60"

All blankets (except Preemies) should be machine/hand quilted every 4-6 inches or tied every 4 inches with a square knot. Use Pearl Cotton or embroidery thread to tie. Do not use yarn.

Boys quilts are always needed in all sizes, especially teen.
